“I’ll never be better than Steph Curry”: Anthony Edwards makes honest admission after going 6-of-14 from the field
Anthony Edwards remained humble despite a stellar showing to lead the Timberwolves to a clutch win over Damian Lillard’s Blazers.
The rookie, selected number 1 in the November draft, has improved by leaps and bounds over the season. Considered a project for the rebuilding team, Edwards has proved to be a high-energy acquisition.
The Ant-Man has been a serial feature in top-10 reels all season long, and with good reason. Giving the 19-year-old an open lane to the rim is as good as ensuring a highlight against your team.
Yuta Watanabe was unfortunately a victim of one of Edwards’ rim-smashers. Attacking the rim from a closeout, Edwards caught Watanabe in mid-air while throwing a dunk down from 40+ inches in the air. It was truly a moment for the ages, seeing Edwards elevate in that fashion.

He’s also improving his 3-point shot bit by bit, although there remains a lot of scope for improvement. Edwards realizes this, as he admitted in yesterday’s post-game interview:
“I still shot the ball pretty bad though. I was 6 for 14 from 3, I think. That’s pretty damn bad. I could’ve been 9 for 14, that would’ve been pretty good.”
Anthony Edwards said it “felt great” to shoot better tonight

That’s 43%, which is awesome

Then came an inevitable comparison to Steph: ‘That’s better than Steph Curry’. The rookie did not bat an eye before saying, ”ll never be better than Steph Curry’.
It would be the absolute best-case scenario for Edwards to develop into a GOAT-level shooter like Steph. But if he puts in the work, he can definitely be an above-average to elite 3-point sniper.
