“There’s no player like myself”: Russell Westbrook talks himself up after breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s record in loss vs Spurs
Wizards’ star Russell Westbrook gives himself some praise as he broke Wilt Chamberlain’s record for the most triple-doubles in a month
The San Antonio Spurs made their way to the Capital and put some water on the fire-hot Washington Wizards. Tonight’s OT 146-143 loss to the Spurs marked the end of the longest win streak the Wizards had been on since 2001.
Russell Westbrook recorded 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 14 assists in the hard-fought battle against DeMar DeRozan and his Spurs. With this triple-double, Russ broke Wilt Chamberlain’s 1968 record for the most triple-doubles in a calendar month.

Bradley Beal scored a game-high 45 points, and four other Wizards chipped in with double-digit scores. However, in the end, it was DeMar DeRozan and the Spurs who were able to capture the win.
“If everybody could do it, they would”: Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook is one of the most straight-shooting guys in the league. He always speaks what is on his mind, and does not filter his thoughts out for anyone.
After the game, Russ was asked if his triple-doubles feel like an achievement to him. He replied by saying, “I honestly believe there is no player like myself. And if people wanna take it for granted, sorry for them. But I’m pretty sure if everybody could do it, they would do it.”

Westbrook is currently sitting with 175 triple-doubles to his name and is only six shy of Oscar Robertson, who holds the All-Time NBA record. It should not take long for Russ to achieve the same, and etch yet another record in the NBA book to his name.
