“Zion Williamson could participate in the dunk contest in the future”: Pelicans superstar discloses his interest in participating in the All-Star event
New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson reveals his interests in participating in the All-Star dunk competition in the future.
The 20-year-old Zion Williamson is one of the strongest and most dynamic players in the league today. There is no doubting the former Duke Blue Devil’s capabilities. At the rate he is playing, he will be one of the league’s faces in the future.
Despite having played only 24 games in his rookie season, Williamson proved to have a major impact on his team. He has transcended all the surreal expectations set for him, despite being the most hyped draft prospect since the king LeBron James himself.
One of the strongest and most unguardable moves in Zion’s deep offensive bag is his energetic slam dunks. The 280-pound sophomore already has quite a few mesmerising dunks in his highlight reel.
“Maybe I should’ve taken part in the dunk competition this year”: Zion Williamson
The All-Star dunk contest has seen some great fuels between players. Recently, the most memorable battle being between Aaron Gordon and Zach LaVine, back in 2016.
Many fans would want to see Williamson too, get in on the action and participate in the highlight event of the All-Star weekend. Zion, who already has won a high school dunk contest – McDonald’s All-American – was highly speculated of gracing the event with his presence this year.
In a recent interview with analyst Shannon Sharpe, Zanos revealed to be very tempted to engage in the contest this season. The 6-foot-8 forward also dropped a hint on how he could maybe take part in the event, in the future. He revealed:
“I’m very tempted to do the dunk contest. Watching it this year I kind of like: ‘Maybe I should’ve done it.’ It may be in my future.”

Being the must-watch player Zion is, he would make the competition an entertaining one. Judging on his previous jaw-dropping dunks, Williamson definitely has the full potential of ending up as a dunk contest winner.
