“If you don’t like Derrick Rose, something is wrong with you”: Former Heat legend Dwyane Wade speaks about the 2011 MVP’s impact on the Knicks’ recent success
Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade speaks about New York Knicks veteran Derrick Rose’s impact on the team’s recent success.
Derrick Rose was projected to be the face of the league. The 6-foot-2 guard showed tons of potential in his first season when he even won the 2008-2009 Rookie of the Year honours. And not long after, in 2011, Rose became the youngest MVP ever at only 22-years of age.
Sadly, he suffered a severe knee injury and has failed to play a full season since then. Many believed that the three-time All-Star would never regain the form he once had before all his injuries.
However, Rose is one of the mentally strongest players who is known for playing with his heart and having an immense amount of passion for the game. After being tossed around the league for quite a few seasons, D-Rose has seemed to be the impactful player that the New York Knicks needed.

“Derrick Rose plays with such a high poise and patience”: Dwyane Wade
This season, the New York Knicks have managed to stun many teams. A team that was predicted to win only 22.5 games this season, has the sixth-best seed in the Eastern Conference. There are many factors to their success – coach Tom Thibodeau’s arrival, Julius Randle’s jump in performance and the mid-season acquisition of Derrick Rose.
Ever since the 11-year veteran joined a struggling Knicks team, the team has been on a roll, winning 22 of 33 games. Not only on the court but off the court too Rose has been an asset. He has been a mentor-like figure establishing great relations with the young players on the team.
D-Rose is having a strong stint with the Knicks and a Heat legend has managed to recognize it. The 3-time champion Dwayne Wade appreciated the 32-year-old for his impact amid the team’s recent success. During a half-time show break, Wade explained:
“If you don’t like D. Rose, something is wrong with you. He’s that kind of guy. He plays with poise, with patience. He’s a great finisher. It’s great to see a guy at this point in his career, average 20 off the bench & be a big key to getting this New York team to where they are.”

Averaging 14.8 points, 4.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game, Rose has been a great addition for NYK coming off the bench. Entering the playoffs, the young New York team will heavily rely on Derrick’s experience. Currently, with a terrific 38-31 record, they sit on the sixth position in the Eastern Conference, fighting hard to avoid the play-in tournament.
