Amon-Ra St. Brown fell into the hands of the Lions in the 2021 NFL Draft. Brown isn’t just satisfied with that though. He’s hungry.

Speaking to the Detroit Press, Brown showed his confidence and excitement levels were at all-time highs. Brown isn’t willing to mess around. He’s here for a spot in the starting lineup, and he will do everything he can to get that.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Has A Chip On His Shoulder Entering The 2021 NFL Season

Brown was one of the most talented wideouts in college. During his time with USC he posted stellar numbers across the board. While he wasn’t first round talent, many people believed Brown would be gone by day 2.

However, Brown would slip all the way to day 3 where the Lions would nab him in the fourth round. 15 receivers were picked ahead of him, and if you think that Brown has forgotten that, you’re wrong. During rookie minicamp, Brown told reporters that:

“I’m never going to forget the 15 receivers that went before me in the draft. That’s kind of the chip that I have on my shoulder coming in, everything that I do. Whenever I’m thinking about anything, that just comes back to my mind and it just motivates me to do more.”

With that kind of motivation, and the skillset he possesses, Brown could be on his way to a very successful rookie campaign. He doesn’t face much competition within the Lions receiving corps to contribute immediately either.

After losing Kenny Golladay in free agency, the Lions next best pass catcher might be Tyrell Williams who has had only one 1,000 yard season in his career.

The opportunity is right for Brown to become new quarterback Jared Goff’s primary target. He’s also looking to diversify his position as during rookie minicamp, he lined up both in the slot and on the outside.
