Will Aaron Rodgers Attend Minicamp? Packers QB Could Risk Being Fined By Skipping Minicamp
Aaron Rodgers is still unhappy with the Packers organization, skipping OTA’s. Is there a chance Rodgers will also skip minicamp and get fined?
Well, it’s certainly a possibility. Nothing is guaranteed when it comes to the NFL world and situations like this, but it’s a situation that’s worth monitoring.
Rodgers did skip the team’s OTA sessions, but that’s nowhere near as significant as missing minicamp would be. For one, OTAs are voluntary. Secondly, several NFL players including Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady have actively advocated against OTAs.
On the other hand minicamps are mandatory and have punishments attached to them. So, how far will Aaron Rodgers go to push against the Green Bay Packers organization? We should find out soon enough.
Will Aaron Rodgers Attend Packers Minicamp? Will Rodgers Be Punished For Skipping Minicamp?
Well, there is certainly a route for Rodgers to skip minicamp altogether. It would cost him a little money out of his pocket, but there’s certainly a chance.
In fact, it would cost Rodgers exactly $93,805 if he did skip. For the reigning MVP, that may be a small amount, but it’s more about the message he’s sending than the money.
He’d be missing out on valuable reps with the new faces on his team, and he would be sending a very public “screw you” to the Packers front office by not doing something he’s supposed to.
Of course, there is a situation where the Packers staff help him out. If they choose, they can excuse Rodgers’ absence so that he won’t have to pay the fine. In that case, maybe the team would be acknowledging that Rodgers is on his way out.
Apparently, this has been something that the team has discussed already:
With the Packers mandatory minicamp scheduled to start Tuesday, Aaron Rodgers would be eligible to be fined $93,085 for not attending, though Green Bay could issue him an excused absence, which also would excuse him from the fines. It is an option the team has discussed.

So, there are evidently a lot of moving pieces that the Packers and Rodgers still need to work out. Green Bay’s minicamp begins June 8th and will continue on till June 10th. We should have a clear idea soon.
