“Never been drunk enough to turn down $45 million”: Charles Barkley pithily explains why Chris Paul would be foolish not to pick up his player option next season
Charles Barkley gives the world a hilarious response behind why he believes Chris Paul will re-sign with the Suns this off-season.
The Phoenix Suns have been downright magnificent so far in this year’s playoffs. The team is starting to look like the best team left in the West right now, and a massive reason for that is one Chris Paul.
The Point-God clearly ages far better than fine wine, because at 36, he has become one of the leaders and best players on a contending team. And given how the conference is shaping up, we’d say there is a massive chance that the Suns will be heading to the Finals this year.
It’s all nice and rosy for the franchise right now for sure. But what about after this season? CP3’s contract runs out after this season. Of course, he does have a massive player option that he can take with Phoenix, but insiders have been unable to find reliable information as to what the star is thinking on that situation.
But well, according to Charles Barkley, Suns fans have absolutely nothing to worry about. And honestly, while his reasoning is hilarious, there may be some truth to it as well.
Charles Barkley gives a humorous, yet accurate analogy of Chris Paul’s current predicament
Charles Barkley may just be the most lovable sports analyst in the history of television. The man is hilarious almost all the time, sometimes even when he doesn’t mean to be. And, his arguments with the other members of Inside the NBA are must-see TV to say the least. All-in-all, we love us some Chuck.
Recently, NBA insider and award-winning reporter Duane Rankin had a conversation with the Chuckster about Chris Paul’s contract. And well, here is his wonderful response to the question. Read the tweet below.
I asked Charles Barkley about Chris Paul’s player option for next season to stay in Phoenix.
“You know I like to drink right? I’ve never been drunk enough to say no to $45 million dollars.”

Never have we heard something so hilarious yet so incredibly true. Honestly, we don’t see Paul moving elsewhere this off-season. This team has been built incredibly well, and stands a chance at the title. On top of that, a $44.2 M dollar pay-day?
Yeah, we don’t think Suns fans need to worry too much either on this one.
