Le’Veon Bell was once one of the best dual threat running backs. Now, he’s without a team, and bashing the coaches of the teams he used to be on.

The former Chiefs and Jets running back left a strong message against his former head coach on Instagram. Playing with Kansas City, the hope was that Bell would regain his form from his Pittsburgh days. Instead, he played an extremely limited role with the Chiefs.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire seized the starting running back role, and behind him the Chiefs never really leaned on other running backs to carry load. In fact, Patrick Mahomes was the second leading rusher behind Clyde. Bell was obviously frustrated with his role on the Chiefs and he made sure to let people know:

Le’Veon Bell Bitter Over His Role With Kansas City, Free Agent Has A New Approach To Free Agency This Year

The former All Pro running back was barely utilized in Kansas City’s pass heavy attack last year. He rushed for only 254 yards on 63 carries in the regular season, and his postseason production was even lower where he totaled only two carries.

The former Steelers running back is struggling to find his way back after holding out a season when he had contract disputes with the Pittsburgh Steelers. That decision led to him signing with the New York Jets where his career effectively fell apart.

In his two years in New York, Bell averaged a meager 50.8 rushing yards per game while scoring only 3 touchdowns on just 3.3 yards per carry. The year off definitely seemed to do a number on him as did the Jets weak offensive line.

The Steelers apparently gave him chances that he hasn’t found elsewhere, and that part makes him a little regretful of his decision to leave Pittsburgh in the first place:

This is giving Bell a new approach in free agency. He isn’t going to jump at the first chance to sign with a contender, but he’ll survey his choices and see which place gives him the best chance to be productive rather than chasing success.

The running back is still on the market, and he could be a good value signing for a team looking to deepen their running back room.
