“How did Kawhi Leonard make the All-Defense team over LeBron James?!”: Richard Jefferson accuses the media of not being impartial towards the Lakers superstar

Richard Jefferson agrees with a fan who says the media is impartial towards LeBron James as Kawhi Leonard got voted for All-Defense over him. 

The All-Defensive team selections for the 2020-21 NBA regular season seem to have brought about a considerable amount of controversy amongst fans. Many have claimed Matisse Thybulle should’ve made the first team over Jrue Holiday while others are talking about LeBron James being snubbed entirely from both teams. 

It may be unusual to think about James as an elite defensive stopper this late in his career but the 4x champ has had arguably his greatest season on that end of the floor, even trumping his 2013 DPOY candidacy. This is debatable however. More so than chase down blocks and an egregious amount of steals, James played defense the traditional way.

LeBron James put on a defensive clinic and locked onto the opposing team’s players and did not let them go where they wanted. He manipulated their movements and led them to make incorrect passes and simply, put up heavily contested shots at the end of the shot clock. 

LeBron James receives no love from the media, according to Richard Jefferson. 

Despite the fact that LeBron played merely 7 less games than Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers superstar made the 2nd team over James. For anyone who claims Bron did not play enough games, the 4x champ qualified for the All-NBA teams so it makes no sense that he wouldn’t be able qualify for the All-Defense ones too. 

An eagle-eyed fan on Twitter put out a bevy of advanced stats to further push James’s case as an All-Defense team candidate and Richard Jefferson replied to him by saying, “Thoughts?”

RJ and LeBron have shared the court together when with the Cavaliers and are great friends off the court as well so it makes sense that he’s backing up LeBron’s case for receiving this award. 

As for the ‘lack of media love’, voters have been experiencing voter fatigue when it came to the ‘King’ and simply kept him off the 10 player list for this reason alone.
