“I don‘t know what is the will of Helmut” – Pierre Gasly not ruling out leaving AlphaTauri
“I don‘t know what is the will of Helmut” – Pierre Gasly is eyeing a move back to Red Bull but is also open to the idea of leaving AlphaTauri for some other team.
Helmut Marko is the boss at Red Bull when it comes to driver seats. This extends to sister team AlphaTauri too, where Pierre Gasly is currently plying his trade. Gasly wants to move back to Red Bull, but at the same time, is not ruling out leaving the Red Bull family altogether.
At the moment I don‘t know what is the will of Helmut.
“Whether they want to take me back, whether they want me to stay in AlphaTauri, whether they are willing to release me to another team. There are interests [of other teams].
“I am obviously trying my best and show my potential, trying my best at AlphaTauri. Then going forward, we will see what are the most attractive options that we have but ultimately it goes down to Red Bull, discussing with them what to do going forward.”

What is Helmut Marko’s will?
Well, Marko has already confirmed the Frenchman’s status, and it is status quo. He is happy with the suitability of Gasly’s persona with the AlphaTauri brand, and more crucially, with his consistently strong performances.
“He’s always on top of his game and in top form. With AlphaTauri, the package fits perfectly. The combination is a great fit.
“We still have a contract that goes for two more years. I don’t know where the talk about Renault came from again.
“Pierre is the ideal ambassador for AlphaTauri as the slightly fashionable Frenchman. But what is strong is his performance in the car.”
