“There was no real beef for me with Joel Embiid”: Newest Philadelphia addition Andre Drummond clears the air addressing the “beef” with the Sixers MVP
Just a day after being acquired by the Philadelphia 76ers, Andre Drummond clears the air about his “beef” with Philly MVP Joel Embiid.
Andre Drummond and Joel Embiid are two of several NBA players who have had a beef between them for quite some time. These two big men have been going at it for several years. Both these All-Star have been involved in verbal as well as physical altercations with each other. The matter had even escalated when both the centers traded blows on social media. It was pretty evident that JoJo and the Big Penguin hated each other with a passion.
However, in an unexpected turn of events, the Philadelphia 76ers, on Tuesday morning, acquired Andre Drummond on a one-year deal. Life can sometimes be funny. Embiid and Andre, who were mortal enemies until day-before-yesterday, now have to share the same locker room together while helping each other reach their common goal – an NBA championship.
As soon as the 2-time All-Star’s signing news went viral, fans couldn’t help but discuss the Joel Embiid-Andre Drummond feud. The 4-time rebounding champ, who must’ve expected these reactions, spoke about his beef with the Cameroonian.
“For me, there was never any real beef with Joel Embiid”: Andre Drummond after his signing with the Sixers
Andre Drummond, who was brought in as Dwight Howard’s replacement, spoke about the feud between him and Joel. The recent Sixers signing revealed how he never had any “ real beef ” with the 2020 MVP Finalists. He further added:
“For me, there was never any real beef… The way we play, sometimes we talk, I don’t think it goes any further than that… We’re on the same team now.”
“I have no malice toward Joel and I’m excited to be on the same team as him and make this work.”

Before fans assume that Andre had to drop his “beef” with Joel as he was signing with Philly, back in 2020, Andre had clearly denied any altercation or hard feelings the two shared. He had then said:
“We never had a problem, it’s basketball I talk a lot of trash. He does it on social media, I do it in the game.”

It is pretty interesting how dynamics change in the NBA, as no one would have thought that the two centers would end up playing for the same team. However, now that the two will be sharing the same court, let’s wait and see how they end up helping, or not helping, each other. And whether or not are they successful in bringing that long-desired championship to the city of Philadelphia.
