“You see guys like Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine put in the work, and I notice that”: DeMar DeRozan reveals his reasons behind the decision of joining the Chicago Bulls

Newly acquired All-Star DeMar DeRozan reveals his reasons for joining forces with Zach LaVine, Lonzo Ball and Nikola Vucevic at the Chicago Bulls.

Over the last couple of years, the Chicago Bulls have been a lottery team at best. Even though the Bulls organisation is one of the best dynasties in league history, they are yet to reach the NBA Finals in 23 years.

In recent history, the Bulls franchise hasn’t even advanced to the postseason since the 2016-2017 season. However, the Chicago front office has been working to change that narrative this offseason. Providing help to Zach LaVine was their topmost priority entering the 2021 Free Agency. And in a few exciting deals, the organisation managed to add incredible guards Lonzo Ball and DeMar DeRozan on the roster.

With the LaVine, DeRozan, Ball trio, alongside big man Nikola Vucevic, the Chicago Bulls are easily a better team than last season. And could very well finish as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

“The talent. Obviously great city. Great organization.”: DeMar DeRozan on joining the Chicago Bulls

After officially becoming a part of the Bulls, DeMar gave an interview talking about his reasons behind joining the team. The 4-time All-Star also spoke about his new teammates, the city of Chicago, and the organisation’s rich history.

“The talent. Obviously great city. Great organization. The history behind it is definitely amazing. But for sure the talent. Looking at players like Zach.”

DeRozan then went on to speak highly about Zach LaVine:

“I’ve been a fan of Zach since he’s been in the league… That’s where a lot of respect come from, watching guys like Zach. You see them put in the work, how bad they wanna win, how bad they want it and it’s just not about highlights and all-stars, its much bigger than that”

“You see this guy wants to win bad, you see the work ethic players like Zach put in, for me that would never go unnoticed… talking to him made it even more enticing, you see him part of Team USA, I know what that process is like and… what it does for players.”

The former San Antonio Spurs swingman also expressed how he was excited about sharing the same uniform with Lonzo Ball.

“I’ve been a fan of his, I remember watching him play in high school through college… He’s a hell of a PG, hell of a player, you’re going to see the best out of Lonzo this upcoming year and it’s something I definitely want to be a part of.”

Even though DeMar is a 4-time All-Star and 2-time All-NBA player, over the past few years he has been an underappreciated and underrecognized player. Coming off a pretty great 3-year stint from San Antonio, DeRozan should thrive in his new role for his new team alongside some generational type players.
