UFC Legend Believes Conor McGregor Is ‘Clean’ and Left the USADA Pool for ‘Logistical Reasons’
Conor McGregor, the former two-weight UFC champion, has been on a recovery journey for over a year after he suffered a gruesome injury in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. Amidst his recovery, however, McGregor has gained significant size.
The UFC fighter who once competed in the featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight divisions looks nowhere near his walk-along weight. This has opened a window of doubt for the fans. Many believe that the UFC superstar might be using banned substances. However, former UFC middleweight title contender Chael Sonnen doesn’t fit in this bracket.
What did Chael Sonnen say about Conor McGregor?
Chael Sonnen is a sports veteran who has had a long career in the UFC. He competed for the middleweight title thrice in his career. However, he departed from the promotion in 2013. Ever since then, the former fighter has been an analyst for the sport.
While touching down on the McGregor-USADA subject, Sonnen, in an interview with Ariel Helwani, completely rejected the fact that the Irishman might be using banned substances.
“Conor’s clean,” Sonnen said. “I believe he left because of logistical reasons,” he added.

Sonnen was of the opinion that McGregor doesn’t stay in one place for a long time, given that he is shooting for a movie and vacationing, which might be the reason the Irish star pulled out of USADA.
The UFC legend further added that not being at the said place leaves a mark, per USADA, and three marks in a calendar year are a failure. Thus, McGregor took the right decision to pull out of the testing pool, according to Sonnen.
Chael Sonnen says McGregor is having fun with fans
As the former UFC champion has recovered and is back to training, he regularly posts on social media. His posts, however, created a lot of buzz among the fan and many argue about his drug use.
However, Sonnen, in the same interview, stated that McGregor is just having fun with fans and teasing them with his bulk physique. Nevertheless, ‘The Notorious’ has stated that he will return to the testing pool in February 2023. However, after that, he will have to wait for six months before competing in the UFC.
What are your thoughts on Sonnen’s words? What do you guys think about McGregor’s return?
