Pakistan lost both of their home test series this year against Australia and England. England white-washed Pakistan recently, and it was for the first time that Pakistan got white-washed at home. The performance against England has ignited a lot of anger amongst Pakistan cricket fans well.

Pakistan lost the final of the Asia Cup 2022, whereas they also lost the recent T20 World Cup 2022 final. The selection of the team has also raised a lot of eyebrows, and the former cricketers have constantly criticized the selector’s decisions. Keeping all these things in mind, a new selection committee is also formed.

New Chief Selector of Pakistan cricket team

Pakistan Cricket Board have named former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi as the new interim chief selector of Pakistan’s men’s national cricket team. He will be joined by Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum in the 3-member selection committee. Razzaq and Afridi have played a lot of cricket together at the international level.

Former chief selector Mohammad Wasim was recently fired from his position as Pakistan cricket is going through an overhaul. However, the formation of the new 3-man committee is currently for the ongoing home series against New Zealand only, and they will also review the test side selected during Wasim’s tenure.

Afridi was initially named in the management committee, but he felt that he cannot do that role with proper justice as he wants to concentrate on his charity work. The appointment of Afridi has been done to take some bold decisions for the side, and even Afridi has said that they will do their best to gain the trust of Pakistani fans back after a series of bad performances.
