LeBron James is about to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record

LeBron James is finally on his way to doing something Michael Jordan never could. He is going to outscore Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in scoring. Where Michael believed it impossible to play at the same level for 20 years, for LeBron, it’s not a matter of whether it can be done or not. For the Lakers superstar, it’s now a matter of when it can be done.

But, as he inches closer to another Lakers legend’s record, we must analyze how it was possible for the 6ft 8″ forward to carry himself so close to this achievement.

As per Micah Adams of Sportingnews, when Kareem and LeBron’s averages were broken into 10 thousand-minute chunks, the chart showed a distinct pattern. The 7ft 2″ legend started really high up. But as time went on, his averages continued to drop consistently.

On the other hand, LeBron’s scoring averages remained far less fluctuating. He has more or less maintained his scoring averages since his debut, never letting them fall too low even in his 20th year.

LeBron and Kareem have almost the exact same number of points and minutes.

James may surpass Kareem within 19 games

At the moment, LeBron James is averaging 28.5 points per game. Currently, his point total is 37,860, while Kareem’s point total is 38,387. Basically, James needs just 527 points to surpass the highest scorer of all time.

At the rate he is going, it will take him only 19 more games to break the record. Even if his numbers fall a little, he should still be able to wrap it up in 20-21 games. Incredible that we will witness LeBron accomplishing this.
