Andy Murray could miss Wimbledon as he recovers from injury

Andy Murray says that he could miss Wimbledon as he continues his recovery from hip injury.

The British tennis star made his comeback after being out for an year due to hip injury in the Queen’s club against Nick Kyrgios. He showed encouraging signs, winning the first set, but couldn’t beat the Aussie as he fought valiantly in a 6-2, 6-7, 5-7 loss.

With Wimbledon due to start next week, Andy Murray has stated his concerns related to injury and the recovery process.

“I need to wait and see what happens, I don’t know exactly what’s best for me just now,” said the former world number one.

Murray has said that he will assess his body condition after a gruelling two-hour match against Nick Kyrgios before taking a decision over his availability for Wimbeldon.

The Scot dropped down to 156th in tennis rankings after being out since Wimbledon last year, where he lost the quarterfinal to Sam Querrey.

“I won’t rule anything out just now,” Murray said about his future plan. “I wouldn’t rule out playing Eastbourne and not playing Wimbledon,” he added.

He also talked about his match against Kyrgios.

“I thought I did OK,” said Murray. “I thought my level at times was good, sometimes not so good.”

However, Murray insisted that he was happy to go out after so long and perform in a respectable manner.

Meanwhile, Nick Kyrgios was all praises for his counterpart after the match.

“f he is feeling good then I don’t see any reason why not. There is only a handful of guys who can really play on grass. He’s got a good chance,” the Aussie tennis star said.

The Wimbledon starts from 2 July. Roger Federer will look to defend his Wimbledon title in men’s singles, whereas Garbine Muruguza will do the same in the women’s round.
