Is Zion Williamson Playing Tonight vs Nets? Pelicans Release Injury Update Ahead of Matchup Against Kevin Durant and Co.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been incredible so far this season. A huge reason for the same has been the return of their former #1 pick Zion Williamson. With the 22-year-old leading the way, the Pelicans were sitting on top of the Western Conference not too long ago.
Currently, the Pelicans are on the 3rd seed with a 24-14 record, just one game shy of the top seed. They’re navigating their way out of a two-game skid after they were on a five-game win streak. It doesn’t help that Zion Williamson missed the last game.
The Brooklyn Nets are coming into town, right after having their twelve-game win streak snapped. The fans wonder if Zion Williamson would suit up and help the Pels hand the Nets a second straight loss.
Zion Williamson will be OUT for tonight’s contest
After missing the entire 2021-22 NBA season because of injuries, the last thing any Pelicans fan wants is to see Zion injured again. However, as luck would have it, the unthinkable has happened again.
Williamson strained his hamstring, ruling him out for multiple weeks.

This means he won’t be playing as the Pelicans host the Nets tonight.
However, a bright spot for the Pels fans is that he’s walking normally and doesn’t seem to be in a lot of pain.

The team and the fans would hope that Zion returns as soon as possible and help them stay on top of the West.

Can the Pelicans hold their seeding without Zion?
The Pelicans have a few bench players who stepped up along with Zion Williamson to help secure their seeding. However, without Zion there to lead them, things would get tricky. It doesn’t help that Brandon Ingram is out for the next couple of games as well.
It won’t be easy for the Pelicans, but they will try their best to stay within the Top-6 seeds while their star players return from their injuries. If they manage to do so, the Pelicans might make some waves in the upcoming postseason.
