“Make Sure You Say Jaylen Brown’s MF Name”: Kendrick Perkins Wants Celtics 6ft 6” Guard to Be Respected Like Ja Morant and Jayson Tatum
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum make up the prolific duo of Boston. This duo has become synonymous with Celtics’ success in the recent past. But this season, all of a sudden, Tatum has moved ahead of his star teammate. He is now considered to be a frontrunner in the MVP race.
With the Celtics at the top of their conference table and Tatum leading the team in scoring, his claim to the most valuable player award is certainly justified. That being said, Jaylen Brown is also a crucial part of this campaign. Moreover, he isn’t that far behind his 6ft 8″ partner.
Fascinatingly, Jaylen Brown has found a supporter in an ESPN Analyst. Kendrick Perkins, who formerly played in the NBA, believes that even Brown deserves his respect alongside other young talents.
Kendrick Perkins pushes for Jaylen Brown to get his respect
Perkins, who is at times highly critical of active players, has surprisingly spoken for Jaylen. Well, to be fair, Brown dropped an impressive 41 points and gathered 12 rebounds in Boston’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
After the game, Perkins praised the Boston star via his Twitter. He claimed that it was high time the NBA community put respect on Brown’s name. He also claimed that the 26-year-old was on par with the likes of Ja Morant, Jayson Tatum, and Devin Booker.
Jaylen Brown is Square Business!!! I said it once and I’ll say again… when you mention Tatum, Mitchell, Booker Morant make sure you say his MF name!!! Jaylen “MF” Brown. Carry they hell on…
— Kendrick Perkins (@KendrickPerkins) January 12, 2023
Perkins definitely makes sense. Jaylen Brown has been key to Boston’s success for the last few years. Even in 2021-22, when Jayson Tatum struggled, Brown stepped up and kept his team in contention.
Even now, he is the perfect man to be teamed up with Tatum. Brown is on the same level as him in terms of scoring output and is also defensively an equal to Tatum.
Brown’s stats this season
Currently, Jaylen is currently averaging 26.8 points per game while managing to gather an average of 6.9 rebounds per game. But Brown doesn’t have the best assists and is averaging just 3.3 assists per game.
On the offensive end, Brown is making 49.2% of his field goals while making 10.1 shots per game. These are definitely impressive numbers and crucial for a team that is at the top of the Eastern Conference. Do you think Brown deserves to be considered on the same level as Ja Morant and Tatum?
