“We Reject Your Celebration of White Supremacy”: Colin Kaepernick’s Fiery Rant Against ‘Independence Day’ Once Caused a Social Media Storm
If there is one NFL quarterback who has been talked about more than anyone else for his off-field actions in recent years, it is undoubtedly Colin Kaepernick. The talented athlete was first roped in by the San Francisco 49ers back in 2011 and he continued to feature for them till 2016.
With most rushing yards for a quarterback in a single game(181) and in a postseason (264), Kaepernick was being regarded as someone who is going to be a part of a league for a long time. However, his football career ended way sooner than anyone would have expected.
One of the biggest reason behind this was the infamous kneeling incident. To protest against Police brutality, Colin had decided to take a knee while the American national anthem was playing during a game.
As expected, his actions resulted in a massive uproar on social media with people even asking others to completely boycott the NFL. After several rounds of talks and settlements, Colin ended up getting a few bucks but he hasn’t been able to make a comeback to the league ever since.
Colin Kaepernick’s 4th of July post had once gone crazy viral
While many thought that the ‘Kaepernick controversy’ will slowly die down, the former QB has continued to raise his voice against police brutality and racism in the United States. Back in 2020, when all of America was celebrating the day of Independence, Colin had come out with a lengthy post claiming that true independence still evades the biggest superpower.
“Black people have been dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized, and terrorized by America for centuries, and today are expected to join in your commemoration of ‘independence’, while you still enslaved our ancestors,” Colin had posted.

“We reject your celebration of white supremacy, and look forward to the day of true jubilation when liberation for all has been achieved,” he had added. Colin also shared a few glorious words by the great Fredrick Douglass to further express his opinion.
As one can expect, Colin’s post was flooded with comments in which people were asking him to leave USA if he hates it so much. However, there were people who extended their support to Colin for not backing down.
