“I like the toastie actually cold”: Marnus Labuschagne reveals his everyday unusual bread toast consumption habit

Ever since stepping on to the field as Steven Smith’s concussion substitute during the Ashes 2019 Test match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, Marnus Labuschagne has not looked back, and his remarkable consistency in the format is evident enough from the fact that he is presently the no.1 ranked batter in the world.

56 Test innings old, Labuschagne already has 14 half-centuries and 10 centuries under his name, as he averages a remarkable 59.43 at present.

However, the 28-year-old recently dominated the headlines for a bizarre reason which has nothing to do Cricket, and everything to do with a bread toasts sandwich!

Just a few days ago, Prime Video had released the second part of the documentary series – ‘The Test’, which goes through the Australian Test team’s journey since the infamous exit of their former skipper Tim Paine’s due to a sexting scandal. It also throws light on the unceremonious exit of their former head coach Justin Langer a couple of years later.

However, during the first episode of the series, a short clip feature Labuschagne and his unusual bread toast consumption habit came to the fore which has actually not sit down well especially with the people of Australia.

He did a decent job of preparing the ham and cheese sandwich, and making it ‘sizzling’ hot by getting it toasted nice and crispy, along with the butter on the upside. However, just before one would think that the breakfast is ready for consumption, he surprises everyone by actually putting it inside a refrigerator.

“So this is the trick of the trade, right? So now, not many people do this, but I like the toastie actually cold. For now, boom, in the fridge,” remarks Labuschagne in the episode as he puts the toast inside the fridge.

Having had his pads on, he further reveals that he’d be having the toast nice and cold after getting warmed up post the net session.
