Lamar Jackson Trade: Rich Eisen Explores Possibility of Ravens’ QB Ending Up in New England After Patriots Allegedly Go Around “Shopping” Mac Jones

The Lamar Jackson trade ordeal is taking an exciting turn. One that resuscitates a recently snubbed theory that linked Lamar Jackson to the New England Patriots. Meek Mill’s interaction with Robert Kraft may not have raised a lot of eyebrows. However, this alleged new move by the Patriots is sure to pique interest in the NFL community.

It all started with when news broke that Meek Mills, who is close to Lamar Jackson, allegedly talked to Robert Kraft about Jackson wanting to play in New England. Of course, Kraft said soon after that team affairs are Bill Belichick’s department. Added to that, Belichick wasn’t very keen on talking about players on other teams. However, it seems there might be a change in their attitude toward Jackson.

The Patriots are apparently “shopping” their starting QB Mac Jones

The latest rumors emerging out of New England are shocking. It seems that Belichick and Kraft are looking to trade Mac Jones. This is definitely an interesting turn of events after it was reported that Kraft had no intention of letting Jones go. However, this development could be something to watch out for, especially with both Jackson and Jones not very happy with their respective managements.

NFL analyst Rich Eisen puts forward a rather interesting avenue for the Patriots and the Ravens to follow. One that involves Jones going to Baltimore in exchange for Jackson moving to New England. Added to that, an exchange of draft picks could also happen, to sweeten the deal. It seems like the perfect opportunity for both teams to get a QB who would be more aligned with the team.

While it all sounds well and good on paper, Lamar Jackson might not be the greatest fit in Belichick’s scheme. For starters, Belichick and his QB coach have almost exclusively worked with pocket passers. Jackson’s dual-threat role might not fit in perfectly with their offensive playbook. While one can say that it’s never too late to learn something new, it seems unlikely Belichick would be too keen on that.

Jackson‘s situation doesn’t seem to be improving a lot, though. What was supposed to be a rat race for a top-class QB, has ended up attracting nothing but a few rumors and side glances from teams. Added to that, the lack of an agent to negotiate his expensive, fully guaranteed contract seems to be hurting him a lot.  Will Jackson finally land somewhere with the contract he thinks he deserves?
