From critics to fans, Redfall turned out to be an absolute disappointment

After a long wait, the much-awaited Redfall is finally available. But the response from critics and fans hasn’t been what Microsoft would have expected. This game turned out to be an absolute disaster. Redfall was possibly one of the most promising projects for Microsoft, but unfortunately, the reviews don’t reflect the passion put into the project

Redfall was developed by Arcane who we have previously produced masterpieces like Dishonored, Prey, and Deathloop. This game was a great way for French video game developers to explore genres like first-person shooters, co-op, and and open world with vampires. But from producing a “Game of the Year” contender last year, their latest entrant may not get close

Redfall doesn’t garner favor among fans

Starting off, Metacritic gave it a score of 62, while OpenCritic gave it three more points, but only 25% of critics advised fans to play this video game. These scores are the loswest when compared to what Arkane Studios got for their past work. Even other critics like Gamespot and GamesRadar rated this game with 4 out of 10 and 2.5 stars out of 5.

Almost every review claimed this game is full of bugs and many features felt underdeveloped. Further, the co-op mode which was the highlight of this game also failed to meet expectations. There were also complaints about the repetitive nature of missions and the flawed enemy AI in the game.

Despite being thrashed by virtually everyone, there were some saving graces for the game. Praises for the character designs and the interesting world that Arkane build for Redfall broke the criticisms. Arkane Studios might have to start working on patches to start fixing this game for now.

Fans claim the vampire co-op FPS was a nightmare

The fans who have been eagerly waiting for Redfall also share a similar opinion with the critics about this game. Almost every fan who played this game has nothing other than criticism to thrash this newly released vampiric co-op, first-person shooter. Fans took a dig at the poor AI system and the sluggish capped 30 FPS limit of the game.

While most weren’t too happy with the title, there are some fans who liked this game and urged others to try it despite the negative reviews.

Redfall undoubtedly shook Microsoft, who were trying to set up a line of exclusive content for Xbox and PC gamers. This failure also raises questions about another highly-anticipated exclusive Starfield.
