What NFL Team Did Colin Allred Play For? Democratic Congressman Reminisces His Football Days While Challenging Ted Cruz
Former NFL linebacker Colin Allred is gearing up once again for a fight. This time, though, it is not on a gridiron. Rather, his fight will happen in the election grounds of Texas, as he squares off against Republican Senator Ted Cruz. Though, is Allred confident about taking on the Republican Party’s star candidate? He seems to think so.
Allred played for the Tennessee Titans as a linebacker from 2007 to 2010, playing a total of 32 games. After he left the NFL, he studied law, joined a law firm, and eventually ended up running for the House of Representatives. “When I left the NFL. I thought my days of putting people on the ground were over. Then, January 6 happened,” Allred says.
Colin Allred wants to take down Ted Cruz and avoid another 6 years of pain
During the January 6 storming of the Capitol, Allred was inside the building, ready to fight for his life. Even after so many years out of the NFL, Allred is still an imposing figure, enough to deter anyone. “I remember hearing the glass breaking and the shouts coming closer. I texted my wife: ‘Whatever happens, I love you.’ Then I took off my jacket and got ready to take on anyone who came through that door.”
“I’ve taken down a lot tougher guys than Ted Cruz, but I can’t do this without your help,” Allred says to the people of Texas. It seems Allred might just be the person to take down the ever-unpopular Republican Senator, who is well-known for his controversial acts and statements. Like when he commended the rioters who attacked the Capitol. Something Allred will never forgive him for.
Colin Allred was a dominant force on the gridiron, and he is bringing that trait to his political career as well. Though he was unable to record any sacks on the football field, he certainly was able to sack a seat in the House of Representatives, from the Republican Party no less! If that is anything to go by, it seems Allred already has the necessary experience to take on Ted Cruz and snatch his Senator seat from under him.
