Having Beaten Stephen Curry in $5,400,000 Event, Charles Barkley Picks Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce for ‘The Match’: “Klay Thompson Is a Black Horse!”
In a recent episode of the ‘New Heights’ Podcast, Charles Barkley, known affectionately as ‘The Chuckster,” sat down with NFL superstar brothers Travis and Jason Kelce, sparking a lively discussion about life and sports. However, one particular moment from the conversation captured the attention of listeners.
When asked to share his predictions for the highly anticipated upcoming edition of ‘Capital One’s The Match,’ Barkley boldly chose the football duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce as his favored contenders. This decision immediately stirred controversy, as he opted for the football stars over the formidable NBA ‘Splash Brothers,’ Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
Barkley believed Klay was the major factor in the basketball duo’s possible downfall. Barkley even played Steph in a high-stakes game of golf when the two were in Atlanta in 2020. The prize money was a whopping $5,400,000, which the Chuckster took home after defeating Curry, who was the heavy favorite. Curry even brought up the incident at his special appearance at ‘Inside The Nba’, putting a smile on Chuck’s face.
Steph Curry and Charles once played for a $5,400,000 prize in Atlanta
Charles Barkley was a recent guest on the ” New Heights Podcast”. The show is hosted by NFL Brothers Jason and Travis Kelce. While on the show Charles was asked about his predictions about the Capital One’s The Match. Giving his prediction Charles said ” I think the football players are going to win. No, seriously. I know Steph is really good. I don’t know anything about Klay. He is kind of a dark horse. I have played with your brother and Patrick. They going to be alright. I think they are going to play good enough.”
With the match not more than a week away, it would be interesting to see if an early play-off exists would act as extra motivation for the Splash Brothers to put in a great performance on the course. But unlike his basketball predictions, Chuck is rather well-informed when it comes to his ‘guarantees’ on the golf course. Being one of the commentators for the match, Charles will have front-row seats to see if his predictions pan out.
Chuck ‘Guarantees’ Denvers win as he challenges Shaquille O’Neal & Sean Payton to a Game of Golf in Denver
Sir Charles isn’t the only person on the crew who enjoys a good game of high-stakes golf. Recently Shaquille O’Neal and Sean Payton were challenged by Charles and Peyton Manning to play 18 holes of golf up at Denver as the 2022-23 finals have taken the crew up to Denver.
This all comes in the backdrop of another ‘guarantee’ by Chuck. For once Chuck seems to be on target as Denver looks to close out the Miami Heat in a gentlemen’s sweep, taking home the title for the first time in franchise history.
But it’s too soon to discount the heat as ‘Jimmy Buckets’ and the ‘goons of Dame County’ may have something to say about Chuck’s guarantee.
