New Test rankings after England beat India: ICC has announced fresh Test ranking after the culmination of the England-India series.

ICC (International Cricket Council) has announced new Test rankings post the climax of the Pataudi Trophy including England and India at The Oval.

Despite losing the series 1-4, India have managed to retain their top position in the new ranking which speaks about their significant lead in the list. Having played a stellar domestic season, India became the highest-ranked team, gaining a considerable lead from the others.

In which has come as a respite for the English team, they have risen a step in the ladder, climbing to No. 4 after their triumph over the No. 1 Test team in a dominating manner.

England, who had recently been out of sorts, especially due to the Ashes, are likely to enhance their celebration for tonight as this update has added to their list of good news. From winning the series, to Alastair Cook’s retirement to James Anderson becoming the highest wicket-taker (by a fast bowler) in Test cricket to a step above in rankings, England have many reasons to celebrate tonight.

England have replaced New Zealand from the No. 4 position, who have now slipped down by one position to No. 5.

It is worth mentioning that England’s rating at the start of this series was 97. After they have accomplished this great victory over India, it has risen to 105. Apparently, England are now only one point lower than both Australia and South Africa, who are at No. 3 and 2 respectively.

With a Test series scheduled to be played on their tour of Sri Lanka, they would be hoping to cover this margin and rise further up the rankings. Out of the Top 10 teams, England have played the maximum matches (45) in the period.

Meanwhile, India are still at the top with 115 points in the 35 Test matches that they have played in the given period.
