RR vs MI Man of the Match: Rajasthan Royals batsman was declared the Man of the Match for his superlative innings vs MI.

During the 36th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians at Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets to register their third IPL 2019 victory.

After Smith won the toss and put in MI in to bat, the visitors ended up scoring 161/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Registering his ninth IPL half-century, wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock top-scored for Indians. The southpaw scored 65 (47) with the help of six fours and two sixes.

With bowling figures of 4-0-21-2, Shreyas Gopal was the pick of bowlers for Royals.

Chasing a 162-run target, Royals got off to a brisk start primary because of wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson scoring 35 (19) with the help of six fours and a six. Having lost Samson and all-rounder Ben Stokes (0) in the same over, the visitors were seen marching back into the match.

However, it was a 70-run partnership between captain Steve Smith and rookie batsman Riyan Parag for the fourth wicket which saw the hosts in sight of the victory line. Despite Parag (43) and Ashton Turner (0) getting out during the business end within a span of three balls, Smith played a captain’s knock to take his team through to victory.

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the fourth over, Smith ended up scoring 59* (48) with the help of five fours and one six. While he was unusual in his approach initially by scoring quickly, Smith played to the situation after getting his eye in. Smith was declared the ‘Man of the Match’ for the same.
