DeAndre Hopkins Used Taylor Swift to Signal His Move to the Kansas City Chiefs, 4 Days Before It Was Officially Announced

By signing DeAndre Hopkins, the Kansas Chiefs have shown that they are serious about their three-peat slogan. They certainly don’t want to fall behind now that Patrick Mahomes & Co. have 7-0 headstart.

Hints to Andy Reid’s plan to sign DeAndre was present in the receiver’s Instagram profile. One had to look beyond the obvious, that’s all. The subtle message went right past us, or at least most of us.

Before the game against the Buffalo Bills, Hopkins dumped a bunch of photos and videos on his Instagram. In one of his videos, he was seen playing Taylor Swift’s ’22’ in his car, with his family happily grooving along.

To make it more intriguing, Hopkins captioned the carousel by writing, “Rumor has it.”

A three-day-old comment from Instagram user Demetrius Frazier on the post read, “Kansas City? [eyes emoji].” He clearly saw it before anyone else — from the T-Swift song to the cryptic caption.

Now that the trade has been finalized, internet sleuths have once again linked the two events together and suggested that Hopkins had been in talks with the Chiefs to get traded for some time now.

The Chiefs not only acquired a star wide receiver but also did so in what appears to be an unfair trade.

The defending champs have agreed to give up a conditional fifth-round pick, which can be bumped up to a fourth-rounder if they make the Super Bowl, and if Hopkins plays 60 percent of their remaining matchups. All of this while the Tennessee Titans pay Hopkins $2.5 million of his contract.

Kansas City pulled off the Hopkins trade right under everyone’s nose. And, there couldn’t be a more perfect pairing than Hopkins and Mahomes. With almost 2/3rd of the season still left, the veteran receiver has plenty of time to prepare himself for the playoff games.

By the time the Chiefs enter the postseason, it is believed that Hollywood Brown would make a full recovery, bolstering Mahomes’ receiving corps. With Isiah Pacheco likely to return for the week 8 matchup and Kareem Hunt already making the running game look strong, the Chiefs will be a force to be reckoned with.

With all these weapons in both the receiver and running back rooms, the Chiefs not only appear to be a Super Bowl-caliber team but also one that could remain unbeaten throughout the season. If they manage to achieve such a feat, they would become the first team ever to go undefeated and secure a three-peat.
