As the build up to the 30th annual Royal Rumble intensifies, the first big name for the battle royal has already been revealed.

John Cena, in a special new year tweet revealed that he would be entering the 30-man Royal Rumble match, for a shot at a major title at WrestleMania.

The 16-time world champion is an early favourite to win the contest as per the betting odds are concerned.

The Cenation leader, due to his free agent status, would be eligible to use this opportunity to capture the top title from both brands. It should be noted that Cena ended his tweet with a cryptic #RAW, suggesting that he would go after the Universal Championship.

Cena could go up against the current Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and the potential winner of the Elimination Chamber Roman Reigns in a dream triple threat match.

It was earlier reported that the Cena would face a huge opponent at the grandest stage of them all, a possible scenario would be a surprise return eliminating Cena thereby triggering their feud. Names like Batista and The Undertaker have been highly rumoured for a return to the WWE.

Cena is a two-time Royal Rumble winner, having won it previously in 2008 and 2013. Cena has not been part of the annual rumble for the past 2 years. He missed the 2016 edition due to injury and was in the WWE Championship match in the previous year’s event.

The Royal Rumble is scheduled to take place on January 28, 2018 at Philadelphia.
