Chael Sonnen Speculates Return of 2x UFC Champion as Hunt for UFC 300 Main Event Ramps Up

Chael Sonnen: Former UFC star claims WWE offered him a million to no show UFC main event. Was offered even more to attend Raw the next day with the UFC title, had he won it.

The WWE and UFC have mellowed with each other these days. Things weren’t always like this in the past though. Stars from both corners have called each other out on various occasions with the rosters of both promotions believing that they’re better than the other. In recent years however, multiple athletes from both promotions have made successful crossovers and helped ease that tensiom; Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey come to mind.

That competitive naturally extends to the people that run their respective companies. If Former UFC star Chael Sonnen is to believed then the WWE even tried to Sabotage UFC’s main event at one point.

Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on ESPN+, Sonnen claimed that he received a call from someone in the WWE who offered to pay him a million to no show his UFC 148 main event match for the UFC title against Anderson Silva. Apart from that he also received another offer, a greater one to show up at WWE Raw with the UFC title if he managed to beat Silva.

Sonnen told Helwani, that the reason given to him for such a demand was that the person wanted to “Stick it up Dana White’s ass.”

He said:

“No-call, no-show. You cannot call and you cannot show. I got two offers. The second one was, do show and beat him and then be on Raw with the belt on Monday. And that was a much bigger offer.

“I’ll tell you straight up. It was $1 million to no-call no-show and $5 million to be on Raw with the belt.”

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
