Chelsea Injury News: Frank Lampard Provides Ben Chilwell And Reece James Injury Update: The club is sweating over the fitness of both of its fullbacks ahead of the club’s clash against Arsenal

Injuries are just refusing to leave Chelsea’s side this season. No matter how much the club tries, there’s a constant stream of players spending time out on the injury bed this season for the London club.

Having only been bolstered by the return of Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hodson-Odoi to training, the side was dealt a fresh blow. Leftback Ben Chilwell ended up leaving the side’s contest against West Ham early into the second half after an accidental collision with Jarrod Bowen saw him twist his ankle.

In excruciating pain ensuing the accident, Chilwell was quick to realise that the extend of his injury was profound. He was quick to gesture his inability to continue with the defender hobbling off the pitch despite receiving treatment.

Reece James & Ben Chilwell Injury Update

“I expect he’s doubtful for Arsenal. He turned his ankle and it was too painful to continue,” Lampard said when asked about Chilwell

“We’ll have a scan tomorrow to see how bad the injury is and update after that.”

Lampard was more coy on Reece James’ injury predicament with the manger keeping it short when asked about the rightback. Lampard refused to dwell deep into his injury, only saying that he hoped James would be involved during the festive period for the club.

James ended up missing Chelsea’s 3-0 win over West Ham on Monday due to a persistent knee injury. Scans on the problematic area had revealed that the injury was not as serious as initially been feared with surgery only been seen as a last bid resort.

Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta had slotted in perfectly at the rightback role in James’ absence. The Chelsea leader was quick to remind everyone of his calibre as he put in a pinch perfect performance to ensure Chelsea walked away with a cleansheet from the London derby showdown.

Chelsea who moved into 5th place in the league with their first win in three will next take on Arsenal as they continue clashing heads with clubs in their proximity.

The club will also continue to monitor Ziyech and Callum ahead of the contest with both likely to make their presence felt in some capacity in the encounter.
