Three-time Indian Premier League Champions Chennai Super Kings will stand a chance to reach the top of the points table tomorrow. Currently at No. 2, CSK will reach No. 1 with five wins in six matches if they beat Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk tomorrow.
Having won all the three home matches in IPL 2019 so far, CSK would be banking on home advantage in a bid to continue their unbeaten spree at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. What is also likely to work in Chennai’s favour is their stellar Head-to-Head record against Knight Riders.

Top-order
88 runs in five matches at an average of 17.60 and a strike rate of 111.39 don’t do justice to CSK opening batsman Shane Watson’s potential. Coming on the back of a successful Pakistan Super League season, Watson hasn’t lived up to the expectation so far.
While Faf du Plessis scored a half-century in his first match against Kings XI Punjab, Super Kings would be hoping for Watson to get going as well. 118 runs in five matches at an average of 23.60 and a strike rate of 113.46 also makes vice-captain Suresh Raina due for a quintessential IPL knock.
Middle-order
Despite playing four innings in IPL 2019 so far, Dhoni is Super Kings’ highest run-scorer. While the veteran cricketer’s form has been the highlight of CSK’s batting, they need more from other batsmen in Ambati Rayudu (55 runs at an average of 13.75 and a strike rate of 77.46) and Kedar Jadhav (106 runs at an average of 35.33 and a strike rate of 96.36).
In Rayudu and Jadhav, both senior Indian batsmen need to stand tall on the expectations. In the absence of injured Dwayne Bravo, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will have to come handy with the bat at No. 7.
Bowlers
Among the major reason behind Chennai’s success despite their batsmen’s low scores is their bowlers. From restricting the opposition to below par totals in the first innings to defending mediocre totals posted by their batsmen, CSK’s bowlers have been there and done that.
Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh winning the ‘Man of the Match’ award twice in the tournament speaks highly about how good he has been for Chennai. Expect Dhoni to attempt to dominate the opposition with his three spinners in Harbhajan, Imran Tahir and Jadeja once again.
