‘Congratulations, Clippers, for being 2x Opening Night champions’: Shannon Sharpe bodies Kawhi Leonard and co despite win over LeBron James and Lakers
Shannon Sharpe proved once again why he’s the most watchable sports talking head on TV with his roast of Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers.
LeBron James and the Lakers took opening night with much less seriousness this time around. They basked in the glory of their NBA title during the ring ceremony. And despite not having such a great outing overall, they demonstrated all the necessary tools to show they’re here for good.
The Lakers gave up a 20-point lead in the first quarter, but clawed their way back into the game in the next period. The Clippers were then powered by Paul George in the 3rd quarter, who helped them open up another double-digit lead.
James sat with an ankle injury after resting for over 9 minutes of the second half before the incident. His availability on Christmas Day is still in doubt.
Shannon Sharpe roasts Kawhi Leonard and Clippers despite opening night win
Sharpe was on TV yesterday morning to talk about the opening night with Skip Bayless on Undisputed. While Bayless put up a buoyant front and even predicted a Clippers-Nets final to rile Shay up, nothing could ruffle Sharpe’s feathers.
With typical championship bravado, Sharpe roasted the Clippers for having to watch the Lakers’ ring ceremony:
“I would like to congratulate the Clippers on being 2x Opening Night Champs. That is a huge accomplishment. You should feel very proud of yourselves.”
