"Shabaaash What a Guy": Anushka Sharma joyful due to Virat Kohli 74th century today vs Sri Lanka

Although normal services had resumed for former India captain Virat Kohli last year after an elongated lean patch with the bat in hand, him scoring a third century in his last four ODIs has provided clear-cut signs of having entered a run-spree of a level only he is known for in international cricket.

Coming in to bat at his usual No. 3 position after captain Rohit Sharma (42) was dismissed in the 16th over, Kohli scored a potentially match-winning 166* (110) comprising 13 fours and eight sixes in the ongoing third ODI against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram.

In what is Kohli’s 46th ODI century, it is his 39th at this batting number, 31st in Asia, 25th as a specialist batter, 21st at home and 10th against Sri Lanka. Kohli, who managed to register his second-highest individual score in this format, surpassed Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar to now have the highest number of ODI centuries at home.

Kohli, who crossed the 150-run mark for the fifth time in his ODI career, received applause from one and all for a masterly knock at the Greenfield International Stadium today.

In addition to his teammates, former teammates, opponents and former opponents, Kohli also received adulation from wife Anushka Sharma. Sharma, 34, took to her Instagram handle to upload a story of watching the moment when Kohli completed a century on Sunday.

It is not for the first time when Sharma has appreciated Kohli’s professional efforts on her social media accounts. The popular actor-producer is said to have played a massive role in Kohli’s return to form. Kohli, who ended a rut by scoring a 71st international century in a T20I against Afghanistan a few months ago, had publicly dedicated the knock to his wife.
