"There was a bit of dirty talk": Shane Warne was once stripped of Australian vice-captaincy for 'dirty talk' with British Nurse in 2000

Shane Warne was one such player, who lived a courageous life both on and off the field. Warne was a magician on the field with the ball, and he had an equally happening and controversial life off the field as well. It is often said that Children should idolize Warne for his play on the field only.

Warne was banned from playing in the 2003 World Cup after he tested positive for doping, whereas he also shared sensitive information with bookmakers along with Mark Waugh. He faced quite a few fines and bans as well due to his actions off the field.

On the field, Warne bowled the ball of the century in his very first Ashes. He was also the 1st bowler to surpass the milestone of 700 test wickets. He passed away last year in Thailand and his presence is still missed as he was constantly engaged in the sport in different capacities.

Shane Warne was always surrounded by controversies, and known for his colourful nature, the leg-spinner again was in headlines in 2000. Australia stripped Warne from his vice-captaincy duties after it was reported that Warne was doing ‘dirty talks’ with a British Nurse named Ms. Wright.

Ms. Wright was a 22-year-old nurse, and Warne agreed that he had a dirty talk with her over the phone, but it was her who initiated the conversations. Warne said that he was disappointed that he was stripped from the vice-captaincy role as it was an unfortunate incident. He was already married at that time.

“Wow… as I said before, there was a bit of dirty talk, and, ah, she did talk dirty to me and I was reciprocating with her. Um, you know, it’s not something that you like to do, but unfortunately, things happen,” Shane Warne said about the incident.

Adam Gilchrist replaced Shane Warne as the vice-captain of the side. There is also an interesting story that Warne did not wanted Gilchrist to debut for Australia, but instead wanted a friend of his to be given a chance in the Australian team.
