"These Two Guys": Rohit Sharma Predicts Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah-Like Future For 2 MI Players

All-rounder Hardik Pandya and pacer Jasprit Bumrah are two of the biggest names in Indian cricket. Mumbai Indians have played a vital role in the development of both these players. Bumrah made his IPL debut for Mumbai in 2013, whereas Pandya’s debut happened in 2015.

Captain Rohit Sharma has mentioned two more names from the franchise who can replicate the success stories of Bumrah and Pandya. In an interview given to host Anant Tyagi on Jio Cinema, Sharma named the batting duo of Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera as the next two superstars.

Bumrah is not playing in the current IPL 2023 season due to an injury, whereas Pandya is not a part of the franchise anymore. Pandya was made the captain of Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 and led them to the title in their first-ever season.

MI are famous for giving chances to young talents. Wadhera and Varma are two of the most exciting players in the pool and Sharma has predicted two of them to replicate the stories of Pandya brothers and Bumrah. He has hailed both of them as future superstars.

“Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera’s story will be similar to Hardik, Krunal and Bumrah’s story. People will say this is a team of superstars. These two guys are going to play a big role for Mumbai & India in the future,” Rohit Sharma said on Jio Cinema.

Although Sharma has not been that consistent at the top of the order this season, Varma and Wadhera have played some crucial knocks in the middle-order to help the side. Despite their initial struggles, Mumbai managed to qualify for the playoffs. Varma is just 20-year old and Wadhera is 22. It can be said that the future of the most successful IPL franchise is in safe hands.

Nehal Wadhera IPL 2023 Stats

Wadhera was bought at his base price of INR 20 lakh and he has made his debut this season only. In eight innings so far, he has managed to score 214 runs at an average of 30.57 and a strike rate of 141.72.

Wadhera’s knock of 52 (34) against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium helped Mumbai register a brilliant win in a must-win match.

Tilak Varma IPL Stats

Varma, meanwhile, made his IPL debut last season only for Mumbai. He played 14 matches last season and has played nine games so far this season.

In a total of 23 matches, he has scored 671 runs at an average of 39.47 and a 140.97. He has slammed three half-centuries and has gained praise from various players. Legendary Sunil Gavaskar also backed Varma to play in all three formats for the Indian team.
