It wouldn’t be wrong to say that former India captain Virat Kohli has started to bat like times before his extended lean patch across formats. What started as a maiden T20I century against Afghanistan during Asia Cup 2022 has now witnessed him scoring three more international centuries since then to bring back Kohli of the past.

As a result, Kohli has scored 1,001 runs across 22 innings for India at an average and strike rate of 66.73 and 121.62 respectively in this period. In addition four white-ball centuries, Kohli has also scored five half-centuries at the highest level in the last four months or so.
Synonymous to scoring heaps of runs irrespective of the condition, situation or opposition, Kohli’s current form is making it difficult for people to find synonyms for his par excellence.
Dinesh Karthik describes Virat Kohli’s current form to AB de Villiers on Twitter
Veteran India wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik, however, has found a synonym to describe Kohli’s form of the recent times. Having taken assistance from a Tamil slang, Karthik responded to former South Africa captain AB de Villiers’ tweet on Kohli this morning.
“Virat Kohli! Different level,” de Villiers had tweeted to express admiration of Kohli’s form. Considering how both de Villiers and Kohli are vocal admirers of each other, it is not for the first time when de Villiers spoke highly of Kohli. Although Kohli returning to form was a fitting occasion for de Villiers to congratulate him, the South African had also backed Kohli during his rough days.
“Ita [It’s] called VERA level,” Karthik retweeted de Villiers’ tweet with a proper definition to Kohli’s form while also asking him to ask the meaning of the slang from Kohli himself.
For people who don’t understand Tamil, it is noteworthy that “Vera Level” means “next level”. Vera Level is also a popular song from Venkat Mohan’s Tamil movie titled ‘Arogya’ (2019).
Having said that, the last part of Karthik’s tweet has further increased the possibility of a role for de Villiers at Royal Challengers Bangalore during Indian Premier League 2023. Assuming that the same fructifies, it will result in the above mentioned trio working together in their quest to power the franchise to a maiden IPL title.
