“I would prefer to win as many titles as possible” – Max Verstappen amid Mercedes speculation
“I would prefer to win as many titles as possible” – Red Bull star Max Verstappen suggests he could stay in the team long-term, amid recent Mercedes speculation.
Max Verstappen is the brightest star on the F1 grid at the moment, something even ex-champion Fernando Alonso agrees to. But despite shining brightly for Red Bull, he is yet to wrest the world title away from Lewis Hamilton.
This has led to speculation Mercedes could tempt him after his current contract with Red Bull ends. But the Dutchman has dismissed those rumors, for now, suggesting Red Bull could provide him with a competitive package to take on Mercedes.
“It depends on how long we are competitive and how long I am competitive myself, of course.
“Winning motivates me, or rather just the chance to win. I would prefer to win as many titles as possible, but that depends on the package.
“Sometimes you are lucky and it is good for longer periods and sometimes you aren’t lucky. Hopefully, I will win some titles, but you never know.”

Can Max Verstappen go as long as Kimi?
Kimi Raikkonen is the ‘Grand Old Man’ of F1, continuing to impress on the track for Alfa Romeo, even after turning forty. This is something Verstappen is not keen on doing so, though, with his ambitions set on winning a few world titles, and not racing just for the love of it.
“I want to keep racing as long as I feel like it. Then at some point, I’ll be done with it.
“Of course, it is a completely different story if you are fighting for the top positions. If I were to drive at the back, then there would come a time when I wouldn’t feel like doing it.
