Enchanting Items in Minecraft: Step-by-Step Guide

Making an Enchanting Table

First, we need to make an Enchanting Table. You can refer to this guide for a detailed overview of how to make one. For this block, you will need three things, a book, some obsidian, and diamonds. First, let us make a book.

  • Find Sugarcane by searching near water bodies and leather by farming it from cows.
  • Place the three Sugarcane reeds and one leather on a crafting table to create a book.

Gather obsidian by making your own infinite stream of it. Craft some buckets, fill one with water and the other with lava. Now make a pit and pour both the lava and the water inside, this will create obsidian.

Next, we gather diamonds by going lower into the ground in mines. The lower you are, the better the chances of finding Diamonds. Make sure you have an iron pickaxe or a better pickaxe because any other one won’t work. Once you find diamonds, we are ready to make an Enchanting table.

Open the crafting table, and place the book in the center grid of the topmost row. Place one obsidian block in the center grid of the middle row with two diamonds on either side of the obsidian block. Finish by placing three more obsidian blocks in the bottom row and craft. You now have an Enchanting table.

Using the Enchanting Table to Enchant Items in Minecraft

To enchant items, open the Enchanting table. Place the item you want to buff on the left slot. Now place some lapis lazuli in the right slot. You can find some by mining them, they are blue in color. You will find them when you are searching for Diamonds.

Applying the enchantment will cost 1 to 3 lapis lazuli and player levels. There is a number on the right-hand side which will show you the level.

How to level up the enchantment level of these items

Three enchantments will pop up when you place the item and lapis lazuli. The enchantments that will pop up will depend on your level and the enchantment level. To increase your level, play the game. Collect XP by killing mobs, crafting, mining, and smelting.

To increase the enchantment level, you will need bookshelves. You can find bookshelves in Villages. Every bookshelf you place will increase the enchantment level, it can go up to level 15. Place the bookshelves near the enchanting table to increase the level. However, there cannot be anything between the table and the bookshelves. Make sure the bookshelves surround the table.

That is all you need to know about the enchanting items in Minecraft. They provide a need buff to your tools depending on the enchantment. Some make the tools last longer while others increase damage against certain enemies. For more Minecraft content, click here.
