The seventh edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will commence from February 21 when hosts and defending champions Australia will take on India in what should be among the best contests of the tournament.

Hosting the tournament for the first time, Australia would be banking on their recent form in addition to the home advantage to lift the trophy for a record fifth time. Australia have previously won the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2018.

Other than Australia, England (2009) and West Indies (2016) have also lifted the trophy once. West Indies, who finished as the runners-up in 2018 after Australia defeated them by 8 wickets in Antigua, will play their first match against Thailand on the following day, i.e., February 22.

The tournament will see 10 teams being divided into two groups of five teams each. After playing four league matches in their respective groups, the top two teams from both the groups will contest in the semi-finals and the final which will be played on March 8 in Melbourne.
