Will we see Iniesta return to Barcelona? The midfielder answers the question himself in an interview to official club YouTube channel.

Andres Iniesta and F.C. Barcelona went their own separate ways at the end of this season. One of the best midfielders ever to grace the football pitch decided that it was time up in Spain for him and chose to follow his trade in Japan. He is currently on the books of J League giants Vissel Kobe, and has enjoyed an impressive start with them.

The Spaniard and Barcelona still enjoy a very positive relationship as is seen through a lot of social media posts. In the month of August, Barcelona’s U14 B team visited Japan to contest a tournament and the Spanish champions’ social media team made full use of the opportunity to catch up with their unforgettable legend.

The 34 year old gave an interview with the team’s official YouTube channel and spoke about wanting to associate with Barcelona in the near future. He did not mention in what way he would like to be united with the club again, but for sure wants to pay off the debt that he owes to La Masia- Barcelona’s youth academy from where he graduated.

“I hope I can be back there in the future,” Iniesta said, “because I view it as my home. I hope one day to be able to transmit everything that I have learned and been taught, and what I’ve done for a long time.” Iniesta also expressed confidence in Lionel Messi succeeding him as Barcelona’s captain, saying the long-time Argentine national team captain “doesn’t need much advice” to do a good job.

He also gave advice to Barça’s new midfielder, Arthur, saying he should be “confident in his game” because “he’s got some very strong attributes.”

Barcelona’s chiefs will be very happy to hear the words of the legendary midfielder and would welcome him back with open arms. A coaching role or a position amongst the board of directors looks like a huge possibility in the near future.
