Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim promoting groupism in Pakistan Team, reports suggest | Cricket World Cup 2019

Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim led groups leading to a split in the Pakistan Team, suggest reports after India vs Pakistan match in Manchester

All is apparently not well within the Pakistan Cricket Team, especially after their humiliating 89-run loss (DLS Method) against India at Old Trafford in Manchester. They have received a fair share of swears by the so-called fans and have been heavily criticized by former cricketers and experts post the loss.

In such a negative scenario, the last thing Pakistan Cricket management would have wanted is a possible feud hampering the harmony amongst the players. Reports actually, suggest so.

As per the reports from media units in Pakistan, the ‘Men in Green’ has been split into two- led by the all-rounder Imad Wasim and pacer Mohammad Amir respectively.

Sarfaraz Ahmed been sidelined

The aforementioned groupism has thus affected the skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, and he has been sidelined amidst the debacle. This split has, as per the reports started reflecting in the on-field decisions taken by Sarfaraz in terms on planning and executing the plans.

As per the Pakistan news channel ‘Samma’, Sarfaraz was reported to have lost his cool in the dressing room post the loss and had blamed the same on a bunch of players, who as per him did not perform the way they should have had against India.

He reportedly accused Imad Wasim and opener Imam-ul-Haq of not supporting him and forming a group against him.

Another media outlet- Duniya reported on the feud and mentioned that one group is being led by Amir and other by Imad within the team. Such things are hampering the performance of the team and the spirit was missing on the field, which was noted by many experts and former players as per reports.

Sarfaraz had also issued a severe warning to his teammates, post the loss versus India exclaiming that he will not be only one going back home, if they crash out of the World Cup.

Sarfaraz did lose his cool

Although the aforementioned reports of groupism have not been confirmed yet, the news channels do claim that Sarfaraz did lose his cool after the loss against India.

One of the players in the team admitted that he lost his cool but only out of frustration rather than due any of the above reasons.

“But it was more out of frustration and I don’t recall him blaming anyone or talking about groupings in the team but he did say the players needed to give more,” said the player on condition of anonymity.
