8 Years Before President Biden Forgot His Name, Klay Thompson Shocked Draymond Green with a Simple Statement: “Y’all Heard We’re Going to the White House?”

If you compared Klay Thompson to a mountain hermit, you wouldn’t be that far off. Thompson is known to live in a world of his own when he is not on the basketball court. Draymond Green was on Paul George’s podcast recently, where they both discussed in detail how Klay likes to be in his own world. PG recalled the first time he saw Thompson when he found him playing FIFA in his room. Meanwhile, Draymond Green brought up a funny incident from seven years before President Biden’s 2022 White House gaffe, which showcased how Thompson lived in his own world.

The Golden State Warriors were invited to the White House after their championship run in 2022. During his speech congratulating the Warriors, President Joe Biden talked about how the Dubs had built a team with the big three after the departure of Kevin Durant. He mentioned the names of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, but unfortunately forgot Klay’s name. As embarrassed as Thompson was, Twitter trolled Biden for making a horrible mistake.

Klay Thompson didn’t know his teammates were talking about going to the White House

During an appearance on Paul George’s podcast, “Podcast P with Paul George”, George brought up his AAU days with Klay Thompson, calling him one of the greatest shooters to ever play the game. Meanwhile, PG asked Green about a vintage Klay Thompson moment that he still remembers.

In response, Green brought up an incident from 2015 when the Warriors were supposed to go to the White House after their first Championship win. The veteran Dubs player revealed that the entire team was in a conversation for over 35 minutes about visiting the White House. Green added that 10 minutes after the conversation was over, Thompson brought up the subject of visiting the White House once again, completely unaware that they had just talked about it.

In Green’s own words, “Klay-you always hear people say, ‘that dude live in his own world.’ Klay really does…We all sit at this table together and we’re talking about the White House visit….35 minute conversation. Klay said 10 minutes after the conversation ended, ‘Hey guys, y’all heard we’re going to the White House, right?‘”

The entire squad just sat in astonishment after that. Although PG burst out laughing after hearing Green’s account.

When President Obama made fun of Klay Thompson for not knowing about the Warriors

Thompson has become well-known for his quirkiness over the years. Indifference has become synonymous with his name. Back in 2015, after the Warriors won their first championship, Klay said something that was unbelievable and surprisingly awkward. Sitting with Diamond Leung, he said that being a Lakers fan, he didn’t even know that the Warriors existed. So, when the Dubs visited the White House, President Obama took the opportunity to clown the Warriors star, “Klay Thompson forgot that there was a team in Oakland!

Thompson is one of the greatest 3-point shooters in the history of basketball. He has been a core part of the Warriors’ championship runs and is an integral part of the Dubs dynasty. But he doesn’t show it always with his behavior.
