“Cardi B Twerking? Hold on, Pull That Up!”: When Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards Couldn’t Resist Watching $40 Million Rapper
The Minnesota Timberwolves made a big decision in 2020, when they decided to draft Anthony Edwards as the first pick. Already having Karl-Anthony Towns on the roster, the Wolves needed a man at the wing position, and ANT seemed like the solution to their problems.
So far, Edwards hasn’t disappointed. Finishing as the runner up for Rookie of the Year, ANT has only continued to progress. He averaged 21.3 points in his Sophomore season, and impressed all with his Playoff debut performance.
So far this season, ANT has improved his numbers. He’s averaging 22.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in the 2022-23 NBA season.
Apart from being a dominant player on the court, Edwards is known for his stellar interviews. In 2019, Edwards was called in by SLAM for an interview, where they ended up doing a segment of ‘YERRR or NAHHH.’
Anthony Edwards gave a thumbs-up for Cardi B, had to see her twerk
Anthony Edwards was still in high school when SLAM called him in for an interview. Playing for the Holy Spirit Preparatory School in Atlanta, ANT was a five-star recruit, a top-five player, and the top-rated Shooting Guard from the Class of 2019.
During his interview, he was asked to play a quick game of ‘YERRR or NAHHH’. Basically, the interviewer would name things, and ANT would have to choose between pressing a green buzzer, signifying YEHHH, or a red buzzer, signifying NAHHH.
To start things off, he was asked about clout chasers, which received a NAHHH. To follow, it was Luka Doncic, which gathered an instant YERRR. Russell Westbrook’s style, YERRR. Wendy’s 4 for 4, YERRR. Cardi B? Instant YERRR.
ANT tried to explain and said, “Not cause she cute though. Oh she twerking? Hold on, pull that up!”
Edwards and his hilarious interviews
A proper Gen-Z kid, Anthony Edwards never shies away from saying what’s on his mind. Sometimes, this means that things may get a little too much for the audience to digest. At the same time, it also means that they would be guaranteed to be entertaining.
From his ‘Black Jesus’ remarks to wanting lions for a pet, ANT is a hoot.
