"Chris Paul has the NBA's attention": Skip Bayless surprises lauds the Point God after he's led Phoenix to their first Conference Finals in 11 years

Skip Bayless weighs in on Chris Paul for his playoff run with the Phoenix Suns and discusses how it could shape his legacy.

After eliminating the L. A Lakers in the very first round of the playoffs, the Chris Paul-led Phoenix Suns have certainly gone on to make a powerful statement by sweeping the Denver Nuggets in 4 games.

Considered to be one of the most cerebral point guards the league has ever seen, Cp3 is now only two series away from claiming the NBA Championship, a coveted position that the 36 old might never find himself in again.

Many feared that history was repeating itself this year when Cp3 suffered a contusion in his right shoulder in the series opener against the Lakers.

However, the point God never let his ill-timed injury affect his ability to guide a young team with his experience and scoring contributions throughout the series, ultimately eliminating the Lakers and handing LeBron his only first-round elimination in the playoffs.

The series against the Denver Nuggets however was a different story altogether. Having had the time to rest and recover, a healthy Cp3 went onto absolutely dominate in all games capping it off with 37 points in the fourth game essentially sweeping the Denver Nuggets to qualify for the Western Conference finals.

Skip Bayless believes Chris Paul is now in a situation where he could make or break his Legacy

As mentioned earlier if there is anything that has held Cp3 back from being in the discussion as one of the greatest point guards ever, it is the fact that he has never won a championship despite going on a playoff run 12 times during his illustrious career.

Long time analyst and writer Skip Bayless believes that while Paul’s run this year has been nothing short of impressive it has only set him up to be able to make or break his legacy

“I have been hugely impressed with Chris, more than ever impressed with Chris Paul but all he has done is put himself in a position to make a huge statement because now he is right where he needs to be.”

“He’s gotten the NBA’s attention, it’s all there for you in the conference final and with any luck for them in the NBA finals, which would be his first. So he has a chance to make his legacy there is also a chance you would continue to break your legacy if you don’t come up huge the way you just did.”

Skip was quick to point out that while Cp3’s performances in the series against the Nuggets was unbelievable, his shoulder injury in the first round against the Lakers invoked a terrifying sense of Deja Vu.

As of now, all Cp3 fans can hope for is that the Suns make good use of their time off till the Utah Jazz and the Clippers battle it out for the other spot in the Western Conference finals.
