“I see LeBron James’ cleverness and not athleticism”: Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry Cites the King’s Mentality as Reason for Greatness

LeBron James is a generational talent. Clearly, one of the best to ever do it, LeBron dominated the NBA circuit as a 19-year-old. Over the span of 20 years, Bron has managed to stay at the pinnacle of the sport, achieving unimaginable feats.

Over the span of his illustrious career, LBJ has managed to win 4 MVPs, 4 championships, 4 Finals MVPs, and is merely a few hundred points away from becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

People often credit James’ physicality, durability, and versatility for his success. However, very seldom do enthusiasts recognize the Lakers legend’s incredible basketball IQ

“I don’t see his athleticism”: Thierry Henry on LBJ

Thierry Henry, one of the greatest French soccer players ever, is an avid fan of the NBA. The Arsenal legend has been spotted at the courtside of several games.

Back in 2018, Henry sat for a podcast interview with “The Ringer” and disclosed his admiration for the King. Praising the 6-foot-9 forward’s “cleverness”, the 1-time World Cup winner told JJ Redick:

“When I look at LeBron James, I see his cleverness. I don’t see his athleticism. Every time I hear is ‘oh my god, look at his shoulders, look at this’. I’ve seen a lot of players in NBA having the same shoulders, that doesn’t mean that they were the best. And for me, what makes the difference with me, when I see him, he’s clever.”

What is LeBron James averaging in Year 20?

There is no doubt that LeBron has emerged victorious in his battle against the infamous father time.

At age 38, playing in his 20th NBA season, Bron is averaging a staggering 29.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 7 assists per game while shooting 50.9% from the field.

Yes, the Los Angeles Lakers are having a pretty horrific season so far – sitting 13th in the West with an awful 20-25 record. However, there is no denying that the 2008 scoring champ will end up making a 19th All-Star appearance.
