‘Is Zion Williamson playing tonight’ has been asked multiple times by Pelicans fans on social media, as their star rookie had restricted minutes against Jazz.
The Pelicans did not get off to the perfect start against Jazz, as they succumbed to their all round play in the 4th quarter. A large part of the problem for the Pelicans was the fact that Zion was on minutes restriction and couldn’t really close out the game.

How are the Pelicans placed?
Currently, the New Orleans Pelicans are in a tight competition to secure a playoff spot in the Western Conference. They are placed 11th in the table and are 3.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies who are currently in 8th. In order to have a chance to survive and make the play-in tournament, the Pelicans have to finish the season within the next four games.
The close defeat to Utah Jazz by merely 2-points have pushed the Pelicans with their back to the wall. In order to have a chance to make it to the top eight in the Western conference, Alvin Gentry and him men have to get past the mighty LA Clippers featuring the experienced Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
How did Pelicans play against the Jazz?
The Pelicans ended up getting outscored 17-8 in the 4th quarter. It was a surprise when Gentry subbed Zion with 7:19 remaining on the clock. However, the rookie never came back to the court. The Pelicans ended up with a close two-point loss. Williamson ended up with 13 points in the 15 minutes he played. He didn’t have one rebound or assist.
The Pelicans will definitely need their main man more on the court. He will have to play heavy minutes against this formidable Clippers lineup.
