The Larsa Pippen-Marcus Jordan saga has not seen much positive reactions. Most, who have cared to comment on it, have remained critical about it. And the overwhelming conclusion has decreed Larsa Pippen to be guilty. But guilty of what?

As per Jalen Rose, Larsa should treat Marcus as a nephew instead of a romantic prospect. On the other hand, Shaquille O’Neal, while not obviously stating his disdain, has also categorized it as ‘not a good look.’
For Larsa, who was formerly married to Scottie Pippen, this criticism must weigh heavy. Because in all such opinions, the common theme is the age gap between her and Jordan. Add the past between her husband and Marcus’s father Michael Jordan, things become even murkier.
However, even as the heated debate continue to pick steam, former Pistons player John Salley has come to the defense of Larsa Pippen.
John Salley believes Larsa Pippen should pay no heed
Salley, who is apparently a friend of Larsa, is perhaps the only NBA player who has vocally supported her until now. In an interview with Vlad TV, Salley was asked about his opinion about Larsa and Marcus dating. He was also informed about the opinions of other celebrities including Shaq and Jalen Rose.
But contrary to what you would think, Salley truly showcased his friendship by defending Larsa. And truth be told, he wasn’t wrong in his claims.
While answering, Salley first began by discussing how he once thought of Pippen as a friend and how it was not reciprocated. He then went on to state that Larsa had no need to talk about her relationship. He justified that Larsa was free to do what she wanted as an adult.
Salley also pointed out how, if Marcus Jordan had not been famous, this would remain unpopular. His age would become meaningless if he was just another average man. But his fame and relationship with Michael have made this such a spectacle.
Assessing Salley’s defense for Larsa
In all honesty, Salley is right. If Marcus Jordan had not been famous, no one would have cared about the age gap between Larsa Pippen and him.
However, in reality, that’s not the case. What truly makes it all the more complicated is the feud between Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan following the last dance. As if it wasn’t already enough that Larsa was the ex-wife of Marcus’s father’s teammate. But now, she is also the ex-wife of the man Scottie Pippen dearly hates.
Salley’s defense is legitimate and well-deserved. However, it still fails to ease the complex nature of Marcus and Larsa’s relationship.
