Luka Doncic Slovenia teammate dispels serious rumors about the Mavericks star amid reports that he was the reason Rick Carlisle stepped down as coach
Luka Doncic is one of the best players on the planet right now, plain and simple. His ability on the offensive end is downright inspirational to his teammates, while his defense is coming along as well.
Those who watched the round one series between the Clippers and the Mavericks during this postseason got a pretty massive example of his greatness. But, these viewers also perhaps, a more worrying side of the Slovenian.
During the latter half of the series, Doncic was seen showing active dissent on the decision of his coach Rick Carlisle. And so, when the man decided to step down, many blamed Luka, labeling him as hard to work with.
With time these rumors had only grown. Recently though, a Slovenian teammate of the Mavericks star spoke up on the matter. And based on what he said, let’s just say, the rumors couldn’t have been further from reality.
“I’d tell you completely the opposite”: Mike Tobey shuts down the negative narrative around Luka Doncic
With the Slovenian National team, Luka Doncic is already making history. The 22-year-old has led the side to their first-ever Olympics, and currently carries the expectations of an entire nation on his back.
Still, many in the NBA community have tried to undermine his greatness by bringing up the rumors around him constantly. But, when he was asked about it recently, Slovenian player Mike Tobey put that notion to bed completely. Here is what he said.
“I’d tell you completely the opposite. From my experience, he’s a great guy, on and off the court. I’m really enjoying this experience of playing with him. I don’t know where those reports are coming from but my experience is the complete opposite of those things.”
