Michael Jordan Once Undermined Stephen Curry’s Achievements, Was Called a ‘Hater’ By Warriors Superstar: “Not a Hall of Famer”
Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors were sent home by the Lakers on Friday Night. While the season may be over, there is expectations that the 2022 NBA champions will be back in full strength next season too. Curry played a valuable role. And despite people doubting him, he pulled through on more than one occasion. It was not too long ago that even “Hater” Michael Jordan refused to give him the credit he deserves. Oh, how times have changed.
Curry, not only led a battered and clearly disrupted Golden State Warriors to the second round, but in the process, he won the hearts of many. Notwithstanding, Michael Jordan.
The Bulls legend had many times been vocal about players in the current generation he admires. He has spoken out about how certain players are great and reaching greatness. But he did so with apprehension. Back in 2019, he even said Stephen Curry is “Not a Hall of Famer”.
“He’s still a great player, not a hall of famer yet, though,” Michael Jordan jokes about Steph Curry as he tells @craigmelvin he’d keep the same four guys (Hakeem Olajuwon, Magic Johnson, Scottie Pippen and James Worthy) to play against anyone with pic.twitter.com/tDBQKjDQAa

“Hater” Michael Jordan once said Stephen Curry’s career is not Hall of Fame worthy yet!
Well, if anyone heard MJ say this today, they would probably die of shock. But even in 2019, this statement just comes off as bizarre and ignorant. Steph already had 3 championships and 2 MVPs by then. And he was breaking various 3-pt shooting records in fashion.
And should anyone take like Michael Jordan take notice? Well, of course, they should. But his response when asked about Curry was not good. When asked about whether he would take the 4 guys he chose to play with against any team anywhere, he didn’t change his answer. But when the Today Show asks him, “So Steph Curry shouldn’t be offended when he watches this“, MJ replies,
“I hope not. He is still a great player. Not a Hall of Famer yet though“
Curt. That one must have hurt Steph. Who, coming into 2019 was in the form of his life and was on the cusp of a threepeat.
And just a few weeks later, he called MJ a “Hater”.
Stephen Curry makes a cheeky remark about sending his “hater”, MJ a pair of sneakers!
Of course, news travels fast in the NBA world. And when Stephen Curry was in a YouTube video for Sole Collector, he got his dig. When he was playing a game of horse with Matt Welty, he was asked if he had given his shoes to his haters before.
To which, he replied, “Might have to send them to MJ”. We love it. Just take a look at the exchange which takes place at the 3:22 mark.
We love this jab from Stephen Curry. He has never backed down from anyone doubting him.
So, far he has stacked up an incredible resume. 4 titles and he is still going strong. Perhaps, the best offensive player of our generation. We might think MJ was wrong and perhaps he should give Steph his flowers now.
Not only will he make it to the Hall of Fame, but when he winds up his career, he might even make it to the mount rushmore of basketball.
