Nike's $110 Revelation Confirms Ja Morant Hasn’t Been Dropped Due To Recent Gun Controversy

Ja Morant has found himself in quite a bit of hot water as of late. Him brandishing a firearm on social media has become a thing of the norm unfortunately and it has resulted in him stirring up a slew of controversies regarding his relationship with companies that he’s associated with, most importantly Nike. Nike was slated to drop the ‘Ja 1s’ that retail for $110 on a worldwide scale and in bulk too but due to hoopla surrounding Ja, his shoes have become a bit scarce, leading many to wonder if he’s been dropped by them.

Nike, while they do have a slew of superstar names to their roster such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant (both of whom who are signed to lifetime deals), and Giannis Antetokounmpo, they haven’t been able to establish a whole lot more. They dropped Kyrie Irving due to his anti-semitism row, they won’t releasing any more of Paul George’s shoes, and now the Morant controversy.

Nike confirms a continued relationship with Ja Morant

Nike released a statement on Ja Morant, their signature athlete, in early March when the first video of him with a firearm had dropped while he was showing it off in a Denver strip club: “We appreciate Ja’s accountability and that he is taking the time to get the help he needs. We support his prioritization of his well-being.”

They haven’t addressed the most recent video that surfaced online that led to Adam Silver himself saying his was shocked at the sight of it. Amidst speculation that Nike was in the process of dropping Morant, they have released the ‘Hunger’ colorway for the Ja 1 on May 25th, 2023.

Them dropping a new colorway as rumors of Morant’s departure from the company continue to soar only adds to the fact that their relationship has not ended as of yet. There are many more versions of the Ja 1 that were advertised and it’s only a matter of time before they do.

Ja posted cryptic stories on his Instagram

The police were called to Ja’s house yesterday to do a welfare check due to the cryptic messages he posted on his Instagram stories. He sent a series of heartwarming messages to his family, including his mother, father, sister, and daughter with the last story being a simple ‘bye’.

Many believed that Morant was potentially going to do something much more drastic than just leave social media due to just how ominous those messages were. Luckily, upon the police checking up on him, he confirmed that he was doing just that: he was leaving social media behind for the time being.
